A "Kiasu" Guide to Kuala Lumpur

This is a video travel guide I created for T360 Digital back in 2016. The video stars Malaysian comedian Dr. Jason Leong. I managed the project, wrote the treatments, drew the storyboards, directed the performers and edited the videos.

Details from Azarath title card

As has been my habit for the last few years, I created an animation to go along with an interview I did for Dreams of Consciousness. I spent a few weeks on the drawings for this, but the animation goes by so quickly that you can't see any of the detail.

The illustration is of the Haserot angel, a graveside monument with distinctive stains that look like tears. A crying angel seemed like an appropriate accompaniment for a death metal band..

Grub

Here's a new animation piece I've been working on. I'm trying to get back into doing After Effects regularly. I haven't done any animation since the last Chodega piece that went up last year. I've been working on this since the end of March; I probably could have done it in a few weeks, but my animation skills are rusty, and my attention kept getting pulled away by my metal blog and podcast.

hamburger helper
This piece was based on a recent train sketch. I was thinking of a burger and fries, except instead of a burger it was this weird burnt mutant guy, and instead of fries it was a pile of worms. Then the mutant guy gets impaled by a kebab stick. The animation kind of directed itself.

I'm hoping to do a new animation every month from now on. Right now I'm drawing a blank as to what to do next, but no doubt it will be just as weird and gross. I realized while I was watching the finished video for the 1000th time that I'd probably be in a pretty good place career-wise if I wasn't pathologically hell-bent on alienating the "right" people and getting acclaim from the "wrong" people. All I know is when I'm gone I'd rather be hanging out with George Carlin than Steve Jobs.

Fowlkes Backtracks on Askren

An exchange on 17:30 of this week's Co-Main Event Podcast inspired the following waste of good Adobe Suite software:
